Caffeine

Black, or fully fermented, tea produces about one-half the caffeine found in a comparably sized cup of coffee. The vanilla and almonds contribute no caffeine to the cup. Decaffeinated Vanilla Almond contains a miniscule amount of caffeine.

This smoothness of real vanilla beans takes over the first sip of this tea, sweetening the cup. A nutty almond note follows, which sends it soaring into the realm of dessert.

Preparation & Serving

Use one level teaspoon or one tea bag per cup of tea. Infuse for three to four minutes. Brew this tea strong and top with steamed milk for an alternative to traditional lattes. This tea is a perfect after-dinner dessert tea

Interesting Anecdotes

The only member of the orchid family to be used for food, Vanilla plan folia, produces vanilla beans. Vanilla production is very labor intensive: flowers must be hand-pollinated and each bean is handled some 400 times during the curing process.
